History

Nashville is known as “The Music City” because of its rich music history. In the late 1700s, settlers came to the area and began to play tunes and dance along the riverbanks. In the 1800s, the city began to publish music, and it was at this time that the music industry was born. In the late 1800s, a building was used for a reunion of Confederate soldiers and is now known as the Ryman Auditorium, where thousands of musical performance by some of the best artists in the business have been enjoyed.
