There are many lovely communities in Galveston County, Texas, including Port Bolivar. Port Bolivar is part of the Houston and Sugar Land metro area and is where the Bolivar Lighthouse is located. This lighthouse once helped ships enter Galveston Bay, but is now a historic landmark in the area. Getting Around Port Bolivar
There are multiple options for transportation in or around Port Bolivar. There is plenty of parking at nearby businesses if you drive a car or take a taxi. There is also public transportation provided by the Texas Department of Transportation, including buses. A ferry service is also available to go between Port Bolivar and Galveston. It was once closed down but re-opened following Hurricane Ike in 2008.
Port Bolivar also has some great parks and recreational activities. To begin with, the Fort Travis Seashore Park is in the area. It provides grassy areas for picnics, a view of Galveston Bay, picnic benches, and public facilities including restrooms and water fountains. There is also a playground for families and children. Port Bolivar also has the Bolivar Community Center located at the park, along with the Pilsner Boat Ramp.

Hotels near Port Bolivar in Galveston are just minutes from the downtown area of the city, where you can find a lot of fun attractions and activities. There is the Schlitterbahn Waterpark if you want to go on water slides or on one of the many rides and indoor swimming pool. The Moody Gardens is in the vicinity, which has an aquarium, rides, tropical rainforest, and lots of food vendors. There are also multiple historical sites and museums near Port Bolivar, including the Galveston Railroad Museum, Moody Gardens Mansion and Museum, and Bishop’s Palace.
Activities like scuba diving, swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and walking trails are all prevalent in the area. There is something for every type of traveler.

Instead of just visiting Port Bolivar, you can stay close to it and be within walking distance. There are some great hotels in the area, ranging from bed and breakfasts, budget-friendly hotels, and luxury hotels. One excellent hotel is the Harbor House at 21, which is a beachfront hotel with modest rates. This hotel is great for families on a budget and is really close to the port. You will have basic amenities like high-speed Internet, a free continental breakfast, and access to their outdoor swimming pool.
If you have your mind on a luxury hotel, consider staying at the Tremont House. This is a Wyndham hotel, offering high-end amenities like two-room suites, Jacuzzi bathtubs, business and fitness centers on-site, and restaurants with room service. There are also two bed and breakfasts in the area, including the Coppersmith Inn Bed and Breakfast and the Lost Bayou Guesthouse B&B. Both of them provide a lot of southern charm, spacious rooms, and home cooked breakfast in the morning.
