Things to Do

You’ll find the colorful Southernmost Point Buoy on the corner of South and Whitehead. Since the buoy was first erected back in 1983, it has become a popular tourist attraction. Vacationers are welcome to stop here and take a few pictures for their photo albums, but just be aware that there is sometimes a 5 to 10 minute wait. Interestingly enough, although the buoy states that it is the southernmost point in the United States, Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park is actually further south and the farthest a civilian can go before leaving the US.
