An Overview of Pebble Beach, California

See How the Other Half Lives

Hit the road and travel through the gated community of Pebble Beach.  The 17-Mile Drive, a toll road of sorts, will cost you a fee to travel on it, even if headed to hotels near Pebble Beach, Monterey, CA.  You can recoup the cost by spending money in designated restaurants and stores.  Bicycles are free, but motorcycles are not allowed on the road.  The guard house will allow residents to pass, who pay their annual fee as shown by their “Del Monte Forest” placard.

Let the Views Spark Your Imagination

A map of the area is given out for a self-directed tour, and use the red-dashed line in the middle of the road to keep you on track and help you identify scenic sights.  Don’t miss the Lone Cypress a famous symbol of the local area, or a private golf facility, The Cypress Point Club, that is famous for the 15th, 16th, and 17th holes along the Pacific Ocean, one even plays over the water.  Some of the majestic views are at 600 feet above sea-level and there are many areas for photos with turnouts, so don’t forget to pack your camera.  Bring your picnic basket and blanket, and enjoy a romantic lunch among the trees or get your feet wet with a walk along the shore.

Tour the Possibilities, Then Relax at Hotels near Pebble Beach, Monterey, CA

Some additional spots to see before stopping for the night at one of the hotels near Pebble Beach, Monterey, CA, are Bird Rock, Fanshell Beach, and Seal Point.  Due to the dangerous surf, the famous Ghost Tree location continues to be closed to watercraft and surfers.  If you need a restroom, a place to eat, or a gas station, plan to visit the Lodge at Pebble Beach and the Inn at Spanish Bay.  If you miss them, you will need to return because these are the only services open to the public on the 17 Mile Drive loop.
