Experience The Area

Uptown New Orleans Historic District uniquely combines history and modern, musicians and artists, and together these things create an incredible cultural experience that is nearly impossible to put into words – it’s an experience of the senses.  Over the years many musicians, artists, and sports icons that have found their homes in Uptown, if only for a short while. Some of the most well-known include Buddy Bolden, Louis Armstrong, Archie Manning, Lil Wayne, and Birdman.

From one of the hotels near Uptown New Orleans you can easily head over to Magazine Street for a full day of strolling, eating, shopping, and entertainment.  Start your day at La Boulangerie – voted best bakery in 2014 – with an almond croissant and specialty coffee.  Enjoy your coffee while you stroll down Magazine, browsing thru boutique shops and art studios.  Bakeries and restaurants line the street welcoming you to graze your way around the neighborhood.

Hotels Near Uptown New Orleans

There are many hotels near Uptown New Orleans Historic District that offer this entire experience to you, just from different perspectives.  The Hampton Inn New Orleans Garden District is in the Garden District on St. Charles Avenue, allowing guests to explore both the Garden and Historic Districts, with the comfort of a known and loved chain, the Hampton Inn. About a 6-minute drive, or a little less than a 20-minute ride on the bus and on foot will get you to the center of the Uptown Historic District.   The Best Western Plus St. Charles Inn is another familiar name and sits right next to the Hampton Inn on St. Charles Ave.  The Clarion Hotel Grand Boutique is closer to Center City, a quick 15-minute bus ride and 10 minutes by foot or car. Crescent Palms Motel is also a 10-minute drive away, being farther northeast, near Gert Town, and having very reasonable nightly rates.
