It's Reservation Counter's pleasure to introduce the 2016 scholarship winner - Cassie Cooper. Cassie attends Oral Roberts University, both on the campus and through the university's online learning platform. Cassie wrote an exceptional essay about one of her favorite places in the nation - the San Diego/Carlsbad area of Southern California.
Currently, I live in the beautiful state of Colorado, and last year, I attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I was unable to return, however, and made the decision to work full-time at Focus on the Family while taking classes online. I would not trade the experiences that I have had this year for anything – I have learned and grown so much through it all. But, I am certainly looking forward to returning to ORU in the fall! I am pursuing a degree in Communications with studies in Psychology and Youth and Family Ministry. I have a passion for working alongside high school students who are experiencing life’s challenges; I hope to one day work full-time in youth ministry. When I am not working or taking classes, I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends, reading, frequenting local coffee shops, listening to music, and playing a good game of Frisbee.
Receiving this scholarship has gone a long way in assisting with my return to school -- it is truly an answer to prayer!
We are truly thrilled to be investing in Cassie's future and wish her the best of luck in her endeavors during college and beyond.
