Foro Italico Rome

The Foro Italico is where you’ll find several sporting arenas and courts, including the Stadio del Marmi, the Stadio del Nuoto, Federazione Italiana Tennis, and the Olympic Stadium- home to the 1960 Olympics! There are a few choices for hotels near Foro Italico in Rome, so take your pick.

This area is filled with sporting events and facilities that were built and designed during the Fascist-era, so if you’re in the area and have a few minutes to spare, take a look around you! The detail in the architecture by Enrico Del Debbio is notable. For example, the Stadio del Nuoto is a track, surrounded by 60 marble sculptures for each of Italy’s provinces.

The University of Rome “Foro Italico” is also located here, a vocational college dedicated to the science of sports and exercise. If you’re staying at one of the hotels near Foro Italico Rome, touring the university and exploring the departments will be much more convenient.


The heart of Roma isn’t far from the hotels near Foro Italico in Rome. Visit the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and the Piazza Navona, a beautiful square with fountains and street vendors. The beautiful baroque church of Sant’ Agnese in Agone being just south of the sporting venues.

Getting there

With so many hotels near Foro Italico in Rome, getting to the nearby area is no big deal, especially if you’re used to riding the bus. There are multiple bus stops that surround the Foro Italico, including the De Bosis, De Bosis- Stadio Tennis, and Maresciallo Diaz- De Bosis. There are also the stops at Boselli and the Lungotevere Cadorna -OstelloGoieventu. The closest tram station isn’t too far either, though. A ten minute walk over the Fiume Tevere bridge will bring you from the Piazza Mancini, where the station is located, to the Foro.


Located near the Foro Italico are a number of lovely accommodations. The House in Rome Domus Romana is located three minutes away by car or twenty minutes walking.  The House is more hotel style than some of the others, with multiple room options and can accommodate a larger group. The Villa Glori is just a five minute drive or fifteen minutes by foot and public transit from the Foro Italico in a quiet residential area.
