Jacob Hamblin Home
Located in Santa Clara is the historic home of Jacob Hamblin, the Mormon missionary who founded Santa Clara. Repossessed by the state in 1959, the house was outfitted with replica furniture from the 1860s and converted into a museum. It is the only historic home in Santa Clara that is open to the public. This beautiful home was built on a hillside, with access from the second floor onto the hilltop. A scenic porch wraps around the front of the porch on both the first and second floors of the house. Each end of the home features a fireplace, staircase, and matching rooms to accommodate comfortably both of Jacob Hamblin’s wives. A visit to the home allows visitors a feel of what life in the 1800s would feel like and experience a glimpse into the Mormon lifestyle of the time.
