Things to Do
When you enter First Landing State Park, you will have to pay a small entry fee per vehicle, with a weekday price and a weekend price. The grounds as well as the trails are open each day from 8 a.m. until dusk. From the main entrance of the park, you can access parking areas and the bay beach. You will also find an information center, campgrounds and the Environmental Education Center in this area.
The park features 19 miles of trails which take you through various habitats. You can explore a salt marsh, freshwater wetlands, bay shoreline and dunes during your hikes. There is only one trail that allows bicycles, at the Cape Henry Trail with 5.9 miles for your journey. Bicycles can be rented at the store in the park or from local businesses in Virginia Beach.
You will need a vehicle to reach the park, which has a main entrance off Route 60 and Shore Drive or you can use the 64th Street entrance. You will be moving around on foot or bicycle for the hiking trails, but you can also bring a boat if you wish to go out on the water.
